A good reminder

Here's a good reminder that someone sent me:
"Wait for the LORD;
      be strong and take heart
      and wait for the LORD."
--Psalm 27:14

Praise God for so many encouraging people!

Choosing Classes for Next Semester

I have some choices (other than sections) on courses next semester. * My sequence sheet
* List of courses.
I need to choose a Bible Elective:
BIBL 3553 Book Of Acts A study of the Acts of the Apostles focusing on the content of Acts in light of its socio-historical settings. Special attention will be given to the ministry of the Holy Spirit, missionary journeys of Paul, genre considerations, missionary application, gospel expansion, and personal applications.
Pros: Acts is interesting. Cons: 8am (maybe good though, since I'll have a required 8am MWF class (if I pass Electronics I) Maybe it's not as hard to understand as OT writings so a course wouldn't be as beneficial?
M-W-F-9:20a-10:15a BIBL 3203 Historical Books (L) An historical, hermeneutical, and theological examination of the Historical Books of the Old Testament including the Former Prophets, (Joshua, Judges, Samuel, and Kings) as well as the post-exilic historical writings (the work of the Chronicler, Ezra-Nehemiah and Esther). Particular attention will be given to issues of Hebrew historiography, its development, and literary techniques.
Pros: Probably more to learn? Cons: Will I enjoy studying: "Hebrew historiography, its development, and literary techniques."
--T-R-- 1:30p-2:50p BIBL 3503 The Life And Teachings Of Christ An exegetical and topical study of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ as presented in the gospels of the New Testament. Consideration is given to the message of each Gospel within its socio-historical setting. Literary structure, hermeneutical considerations, and personal applications are included.
Pros: Interesting. Cons: Same teacher I had for Bib Lit, I enjoyed having her, but maybe it would be good to hear from other professors. I also need to choose either a History or Lit elective (because I can't take Ethics this semester.) None of these sound appealing to me (with Shakespeare sounding least appealing):
ENGL 2333 Survey Of British Literature II A continuation of ENGL 2323. A survey of English literature from the pre-romantic period to present. Special attention is given to study of specific genres.

ENGL 3553 World Literature: The Enlightenment Through The Twentieth Century A course designed to encourage in-depth reading and analysis of selected, representative works of later non-British/American literatures, including those of Europe, Asia, Africa, and/or Latin America. A review of critical theory. Reading, projects, and reports are required.

ENGL 3303 Shakespeare A study of the sonnets and selected plays with emphasis on the major tragedies. Involvement through drama is emphasized.
Instead of doing my Lit Elective next semester, there are history electives I could try (and hope for better Lit electives in Spring 2010):
HIST 1123 Western Civilization From 1715 (L) Covers world events and significant movements from 1715 to the present. Particular attention is given to the progress of civilization and the development of society in modern history.

HIST 2123 American History from 1865 A continuation of the survey of American life beginning with the reconstruction period and extending to the present. Political, economic, diplomatic, and military history are covered along with the contributions of minority groups.

HIST 3103 Twentieth Century Russia Russia from the last of the Romanovs to the present. Stress will be placed on Russian culture and religious development under communism.

HIST 4313 Modern Global History A survey of politics, cultures, and peoples of the modern world since 1914 with particular emphasis on the impact and contributions of Asia, Africa, and Latin America to the contemporary world.
Any thoughts?

Nathan Creitz: Why Is A Sermon Still Important

This is interesting: Nathan Creitz: Why Is A Sermon Still Important.
I recently saw an ad in World Magazine for a seminary that went something like this:
People see 32,320 commercials every day promising them happiness, you have 30 minutes and a Bible.

What do you think?

Learning in Networks

I'm learning interesting stuff in my Networks and Data Commuincation class. I've done basic home networking but haven't understood much of what's going on behind the scenes. It's interesting to learn more about things like DHCP.
