Notes from Roman's Reading

From "Encountering the Book of Romans: A Theological Survey" by Douglas Moo:

Regarding Romans 1:17 (from page 23):
But then Luther came to understand that the "righteousness of God" that Paul was talking about was not God's justice, but God's gift.
Also from page 23:
"Works" of religious devotion or good deeds were not needed to [gain] acceptance with God. All God asked was that people turn away from their sins and turn to him in heartfelt faith.

Note: Bracketed words are because I can't make out the word on the temporary page copy I made as I was letting someone borrow my book.

I'm glad I decided to take Romans!
